Internet Scam

Prospective tenants need to be aware that many properties for rent are being advertised on free websites including Gumtree by people who are neither the landlord nor the appointed agent.  Many of these properties are being advertised with drastically reduced rents to make them appealing.  Some applicants have been asked to transfer money overseas by way of MoneyGram to secure the tenancy.  We would advise that prospective tenants take great care with such remarkable offers.  Flat seekers should realise that in this circumstance there are many properties being advertised with completly unrealistic rental figures which do not reflect the true market rents.  Our advice is to only deal with accrediated agents. If you find yourself the victim of these advertisements please report to the relevant persons.
